Synchronisation between AD and third-party/partner hosted CRM 2013

Hi all

I have a client who is looking at third-party hosted CRM due to requirements about where the data is hosted, as here in Australia the CRM Online offering is hosted in another jurisdiction. However they also want to set up the same sort of AD synchronization described in this article

They would like to be able to do this for single sign-on but mainly so they are able to manage users in one location and have CRM synchronize these details. Is this type of functionality achievable?
