Change Organizational Unit for CRM System Groups

We're consolidating our Active Directory OU structure and need to relocate the OU CRM uses for creating CRM system groups to a new OU.

Assuming OU permissions are carried over, is there a supported scenario for this?
Would relocating the system groups to a new OU impact the CRM application?
